Molleker continues his best, Stabel leaves
On the second tournament day of the International German Junior Championships, Berlin’s top talent Rudi Molleker (LTTC “Rot-Weiss”) once again gave a promising performance. In two straight sets he defeated the Bulgarian Adrian Andreev, and reached the round of sixteen in which Ivo Kranic from Croatia will be his opponent. The two German juniors Kai Lemstra and Justin Schlageter also reached the round of sixteen. However, number 1 seeded Constantin Bittoun from France had to leave the tournament after the second round.
Unfortunately, the Berliner Anica Stabel did not manage to achieve the results from the previous day. She was without a chance against Elisabetta Cocciaretto from Italy and lost flat out. Jule Niemeier was the only German female junior to manage the leap into the round of sixteen. She fought hard and won in three sets against the Ukrainian Viktoriia Dema.
Whilst 10 of the 16 seeded female juniors reached the round of sixteen, it was only 4 of the male juniors. This is also proof of how balanced the matches of the world’s best junior players are from the first round onwards.
All previous tournament results and the match plan for Thursday, 22nd June, are published on our website.
On Thursday all games start at 12 a.m. The entry is free of charge on all days of the tournament.
